School construction 33

By Mabwe Lucien | Project Leader

Even if the environment of our School is heavy, the School illuminates our region with the light of peace, non-violence and non-killing...
Yes, we said ‘heavy’:
- With regard to wars, misery, displaced people in North Kivu where the national army is fighting against a negative armed group M 23
- With regard to the incessant clashes which are invariably followed by massacres, pillaging and rape on the high plateaus of Fizi and Uvira
- With regard to high temperatures (38 ºC) which hit the Kazimia region and which pushed the School to enter the Easter holidays a little early.
Indeed, the students entered the Easter holidays as a release of heat, high temperatures never before observed...they are now lazing around in the shade of the trees and around Lake Tanganyika...

We have just sent a large batch of bricks (10,000) to our School from Uvira which will be used to complete the walls... Rightly, a Teacher at the School says: 'Tofali hizo zitatosha kumaliza kuta zote'. This phrase in Kiswahili, a common language with Kibembe in Kazimia, means 'These bricks will be enough to complete all the walls'. We are waiting to buy bags of cement and iron concrete...to restart actual construction activities.

Our School, with its 18 years of experience, is an immense center of knowledge, of the influence of love, of charity for victims of war and a positive response... to atrocities: non-violence, non-killing to emerge a non-violent generation...

Dear Friends, Thank you for what you do and continue to help us in this great task.

Happy Easter !
