The 2016 - 2017 school year is coming to end at the Glenn Paige Nonkilling School. A year of hard work where teachers and students have made considerable efforts to fulfill the objectives of the School.
Two sad events have marked this school year :
- The long illnesses followed by the death of our spiritual father (his intelligence, skill, excellent advice, inspiration and his total support are missing enormously : peace to his soul)
- The Principal's long absence from school due to illness. We thank God for his recent recovery.
Our School has also evolved in recent months in a worrying general context. Armed groups are fighting a few tens of kilometers from the School. Displaced people are arriving. It is to welcome new students. Our school, which advocates peace and nonkilling, is highly preoccupied by this state of war.
We are in full construction of new premises. Unfortunately our boat has been under repair for a few months. We have to use other boat for the transport of construction equipment. The cost of transport and construction equipment is excessive given the devaluation of our currency and the galloping inflation in the region. Despite this, the masons fixed the concrete under the illuminated glance of the Principal who sighed « je suis heureux d’être à nouveau à l’Ecole pour voir la construction avancer ». (I am happy to be again at the School to see the construction advance).
What a great work! Dear friends ! We are proud of your support for building a pioneering nonkilling school in Africa, a continent that knows wars, and various killings.
Help us achieve this goal and honor the name that our School bears.
Your suggestions and advice are welcome.
No more killing !
