Urinal for schools

The Feminine Star Africa School Sanitation Project was established to improve sanitation, hygiene and learning conditions in underserved schools in Ghana. Many schools in rural communities lack adequate toilet facilities, urinals, handwashing points and appropriate waste management systems, creating challenges for pupils and teachers.

Our goal is to help create safe, clean and dignified learning environments, particularly for children in communities where schools have limited resources.

What We Have Done

Since the project began, Feminine Star Africa has worked with schools and communities to provide and improve essential sanitation facilities, including:

Construction of urinals for schools with inadequate facilities

Provision of dustbins and waste management resources

Installation of handwashing facilities

Provision of storage cupboards and other school sanitation resources

Community and school-based awareness around hygiene and sanitation

To date, the project has supported the construction of more than 25 school urinals, alongside other sanitation improvements.

Impact

The project has helped schools provide pupils with more appropriate sanitation facilities, contributing to cleaner and healthier school environments.

For many of the children we serve, these improvements are more than infrastructure. They provide dignity, safety and a healthier environment in which children can learn.

Improved sanitation is particularly important for girls, helping create school environments where they can attend school with greater comfort and confidence.

Looking Ahead

The need remains significant, particularly in rural and underserved communities where schools continue to operate with inadequate sanitation facilities.

Feminine Star Africa hopes to expand the project to more schools by mobilising funding and partnerships to provide toilets, urinals, handwashing stations, waste management facilities and hygiene education.

Our vision is simple:

Every child deserves to learn in a school that is clean, safe and dignified.

Through continued support, we can help more schools turn this vision into reality.
