Hello to our wonderful AfricAid supporters,
I am so happy to write this update upon arriving in the U.S. after spending 2 weeks in Tanzania in May and June. It was amazing to witness our programs first-hand and to see them working and making a difference in childrens' lives.
I saw how critical our school lunch program is at Losinoni school. Losinoni is a rural, Masai primary school where many children walk an hour or more each way to get to school. When we started the lunch program, attendance increased by 30% and the graduation rate increased by 20% to 98% in five years. The program is still going strong and, against all odds, this rural, impoverished school continue to graduate students as an unprecendented rate in Tanzania. Much of it is due to the lunch program. $25 can feed the entire school, now over 900 students, for a day. Where else can $25 make such a big difference?
Thank you very much for your generous support. We are committed to ensuring it goes directly to the Losinoni lunch program and spent wisely.
Asante sana,
Elizabeth Abshire
