Dear friends,
I am writing to thank you, once again, for your important support of the school lunch program in the rural Maasai village of Losinoni.
Although a school lunch doesn't sound like much, it is truly changing lives and educational opportunities for Tanzanian students. Since starting the school lunch program, attendance has increased by 30% at Losinoni Primary school, and graduation rates have increased from 20% to 90%
This past year, the school introduced "makande" (corn and bean mash) into the school lunch program. Please see the photo of makande below. In addition to the porridge and groundnuts already being served, this is providing a nutritious and important source of protein to the students. As you'll see in the photo below, this program couldn't be more important for students who walk miles to and from school each day.
Please take a moment to let your friends know about this school lunch program, by posting the following link to your Facebook profile: http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/schoollunchintanzania/. With just $25, you can feed the entire 750-student school for a day! Please join us in helping us to reach our goal of providing lunch for a year at Losinoni.
With much appreciation, Ashley Shuyler Founder and Executive Director AfricAid (www.africaid.com)
