Sports for 5000 Colombian kids' dreams

Facing the quarantine due to COVID 19 has been a challenge for Tiempo de Juego. For fourteen years we have been doing face to face activities and, all of a sudden, we had to start thinking in our job in a virtual, non- physical contact way. Technology is not easily found in most of the communities we work with, so meetings at zoom, meets, teams - as it is done worldwide- is not possible for achieving our goals. Therefore, we have created Virtual Tiempo de Juego, using basic social networks to keep spreading our message.

This way, we have made psychosocial challenges that involve family interaction, to promote healthy family dynamics, and technical challenges that involve different exercises and physical activities to promote healthy lifestyles for our participants. All these, through Facebook, Whatsapp, and other basic social networks. 

It hasn't been easy to reinvent ourselves and the way we reach our participants. Nevertheless, we acknowledge the importance of improving virtual methods, because there are still more than 5000 children at their homes waiting for activities that improve their cognitive, social, and technical skills.

These times have also been used to improve the community leader's training in different topics as gender focus, technical and psychosocial skills. The latter will help us to provide better training spaces for every participant, in any discipline of sports, arts, or technology.

We'll keep facing this challenge with optimism and creativity, to achieve our main mission: Use the game as a tool to create change agents in different communities.

Building Together

The community of FundaciónTiempo de Juego will improve the conditions of more than 1500 children, adolescents and young people through art, sports and youth leadership by allowing them to play in a safe space.

To support the construction of a dome is to contribute with the safety of 1500 children who gather daily to learn and grow positively through the practice of sports, arts and technology. The dome will be placed next to the existing synthetic pitch and will be used as a space for workshops, trainings, meetings and gatherings. This space is vital for the continuous growth of Tiempo de Juego.

At Fundación Tiempo de Juego we use play as a tool for community transformation, to promote the capacities of children and young people, inspiring them to be agents of change.

For more than a decade, Playtime has been consolidating an extensive body of experience and knowledge about how playful methodologies can transform realities. Whether it is a sport such as football, a music workshop or a video recording, playing provides children and young people with a privileged space to fully develop their human potential, to be happier.

This wealth of experience has allowed the organization to create the School of Leadership with a curriculum that guides the education of leaders through the unique Community Playful Empowerment approach.

Sport plays a very important role in the integral education of children and young people. It facilitates the learning process where, through discipline and perseverance, healthy habits and lifestyles can be generated. The participants develop physical and sporting abilities that allow them to build a positive and viable life project.

During 2019, thanks to your contribution and in partnership with local that are committed to promote change, we managed to work with girls, boys, young people and adults through XXX. In total, we have inspired, researched and transformed more than 11,000 people in Colombia
