On March the 8th the world celebrates International Women's Day - a day to remember those who died fighting for our rights, a day to celebrate our achievements and a day to make visibile the long path we still have to achieve equal rights.
For the past three years, Tiempo de Juego has been leading a project were we discuss, debate and learn about eqaulity, respect and empowerment. Although it focuses mostly on women's rights, we address all issues concerning sexuality and rights for all sexual orientations as we believe we can only achieve equaity if we start promoting our spaces as such. To celebrate IWD the team coordinating this space hel the event "Mujeres con Voces y Cuerpos Propios" ("Women with Bodies and Voices of their Own") where pieces of art created by the participants of the foundation were ehibited at the public park of Cazucá.
The celebration involved big time planning and it was only made possible by the cohesive effort of all children, youth, teachers and parents working together towards a commong goal: celebrating women. People from the community and all of those participanting at the free time activities of Tiempo de Juego were able to enjoy a day filled with art, smiles and vivid examples of what Colombia needs to achieve peace.
During the whole evening, the Cazucápsula - a colorful time machine which will remind our future generations that nothing was, is or will be indispensable other than our essence - made its presence and participants were able to leave messages about power, love, hope and encouragement. All these messages are being saved in our dear Cazucápsula for when the time comes and our future generations will re-live, learn and, laugh with what happened back in our time. Make sure your future generations are part of the moment when the past is uncovered!
"Mujeres Con Voces y Cuerpos Propios" was not only a day to celebrate women, but an opportunity to show the community that their children and youth are becomig active agents of change. Thank YOU for making this possible!
