Together with the Mayor of the city, a national wide-known singer Carlos Vives, the Director of the National unit for victims Paula Gaviria and twenty others including members of the government, international peacemakers, professional football players, directors of NGOs, spiritual leaders and celebrities, the kids from Tiempo de Juego and the "National Network for Football and Peace" played a football for peace match at Plaza de Bolivar in Bogotá.
Palying by the mantra "Cambiemos el Juego" ("Let's Change the Game"), Colombia celebrated the 'Semana Gol&Paz' (Goal&Peace Week), from the 18th to the 22nd of April, aimed at recognizing and promoting the transformative power of football to build peace and reconcilie communities.
Led by Tiempo de Juego, Colombianitos and streefootball world, more than 700 people helped to showcase the methodologies of the "National Network for Football and Peace" and its impact made, using soccer a tool for the transformation of young people in Colombia.
Media coverage helped us reach thousands of people who are now aware of the power of football.
Four main events!
[Tiempo de Juego's 10th annversary] The foundation hosted a beautiful gala to celeberate a decade of youth empowerement and transformation.
[Gol&Paz Forum] We organized a forum to discuss the role of soccer in building peace and reconciliation in Colombia. With international renowned personalities such as: Fatuma Abdulkadir Adan, Kenyan lawyer, peace ambassador, winner of the Stuttgart Peace Prize and Nobel Peace Prize candidate; Jürgen Griesbeck, streetfootballworld founder and winner of Laureus World Sport Award and Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Europe.
[Gol&Paz match] A match to remember! full of fanatics, we made a public statement on the importance of football in peace programmes, at the heart of the city.
[Football for Peace matches in around Colombia] Twenty cities accross the country witnessed the powerful transformation that people and communities can experience through sports.
Most importantly, we want to thank you for making these initiatives possible. With your help throughout the year, we can ensure 1500 kids can train on their favorite sport, learn through games and help their families and communities.
