Screen Pregnant Women for HIV in Nigeria

Thank you for your generous donation to our project. Your support represents a vital first step toward protecting mothers and babies from HIV.

While we are deeply grateful for this initial contribution, we have not yet raised the funds required to begin screening women. The scale of this crisis demands a substantial response, we aim to provide 15,000 HIV tests and counseling sessions across rural clinics. Until we gather more resources, we cannot purchase test kits, deploy mobile health teams, or begin this lifesaving work.

The need in Nigeria is urgent. The country has the second-highest number of new HIV infections globally. Each year, over 150,000 children are born with HIV, a tragedy that is largely preventable with early screening and treatment. Many pregnant women in rural areas have no access to testing due to cost, distance, or lack of awareness. Without a simple test, they may unknowingly pass the virus to their babies.

We are hopeful that with more support, we can change this. Our plan is ready: we will offer free HIV tests and counseling, send mobile health workers to remote villages, and ensure HIV-positive mothers receive treatment to protect their children.
