Thank you so much for continuing to partner with Chimes Israel in empowering women and girls with disabilities. The innovative program intervenes by equipping the teens with the ability to protect themselves and/or seek help against harmful, abusive, violent or exploitative situations and relationships. The program is critical to reducing abuse through educating on femininity and sexuality, as it pertains to their relationships and social circles; helping them identify potentially harmful, violent or exploitative situations; conveying tools and skills to enhance personal protection and self-empowerment; and familiarizing them with external resources that will protect them from abusive situations.
Earlier last year, we received a large donation from a fund in the UK to launch the program to more groups of women disabilities who are beneficiaries of our work programs for adults with mild physical and intellectual disabilities. This covers women with disabilities of all races from all sectors of society.
We also recently received a large donation from the L'Oréal Fund for Women to launch our empowerment program to the girls and young women who attend our afterschool program at the Enoch school in Tel Aviv for students with mild physical and intellectual disabilities. The donation will go toward developing a youth-oriented program of the Self-Advocacy and Empowerment Program.
We will adapt the curriculum from the women’s program and launch the pilot to a test group of 12 young women. The purpose is to refine the program before rolling it out to all the young women in our afterschool programs.
The project is still seeking donations to roll it out to more groups of girls and women at 20 Chimes Israel centers throughout Israel. We appreciate your support of this highly vulnerable sector of society around the world. Your partnership is essential to supporting people with disabilities to be able to use their own abilities and skills to lead a life of dignity, independence, and community participation.
