We are wrapping up our 2024 Summer Camp season, and with that comes immense gratitude to our staff, campers, and camper's families for making it such a wonderful season!
We had nearly 1,200 signups for camp this summer across all three locations: Leigh Farm Park in Durham, Blackwood Farm Park in Chapel Hill, and Umstead State Park in Raleigh! Additonally we were able to provide 10 campers which is about $1,800 with scolarships.
We were able to have Pirate Week, which gave campers the essential guide to being a pirate, Summer Olympics, which encouraged the campers to become a team to win different events; and Natural Arts, which brought out the artist within by using natural materials to create clay pots, bracelets, flower crowns, and face paint.
Teen camps learned how to build bows from hickory saplings, fly fish with a biology professor from ASU, become counselors in training through our Teen Outdoor Leadership program, and backpacking trips through the mountains of North Carolina.
Personally, it always amazes me each week how immersed the campers have gotten in all the fun new activities the counselors have brought each day to camp. There have been days of playing Eagle Eye, where campers come out of creeks covered head to toe in mud because they want to show their camouflaging skills.
Thank you again for making another great season of summer camp!
