Access to Outdoor Learning, Powered by Partnership

By Madeline Preiss | Development Manager

Last month, we were honored to have welcomed campers from El Centro Hispano for 4 days of outdoor wonder: meeting Ambassador Animals, exploring creeks, climbing trees, playing in sprinklers, and discovering something even deeper: connection.

As Emily, our Director of Camp & Outdoor Learning, shared:

Many of our campers may start out fearful of a full day outdoors, but often, they leave empowered and excited, having uncovered a part of themselves that’s truly connected to the natural world and one another.

From Alex at El Centro:

This week has been a safe, gentle place to connect with nature and those who love it too. Our counselors honored boundaries, encouraged curiosity, and helped campers fall in love with the outdoors. For me, it was like reliving my childhood in El Salvador: getting hot, dirty, and feeling full of joy.

And from the campers themselves:

"I like it (camp) because we make so many friends here!" - Yajaira

"This camp was awesome! I loved exploring the woods and creeks, playing games with everyone, and making new friends!" - Mateo

"I liked exploring the creek!" - Ana

We believe every child deserves this kind of experience: freeing, grounding, and joyful. We're shonored to have had this shared experience alongside an amazing partner organization, and so grateful to you for helping make it possible.
