Veteran Campers Have A Continued Love for Learning

Ben and Dalia in Nature Explorer's camp
Ben and Dalia in Nature Explorer's camp

Siblings Ben and Dalia can’t get enough of Piedmont Wildlife Center(PWC). They come to camp together season after season, and this spring was no exception, thanks to your generous support!

These two campers have been part of the PWC family for three years, and it’s incredible how much they have learned in that time. Before starting camp here, Dalia and Ben liked being out in nature, but didn’t know very much about wildlife or outdoor skills.  Now they are eager to share their knowledge with newer campers and to demonstrate all the things they have learned. Dalia says, “I would not know about bird calls or animal tracks if I hadn’t come here.”Ben notices much more on hikes since he learned to practice awareness and observation skills at camp.

Even though they have been coming for so long, they never get bored. “Each time I am here, I learn something new,” Dalia says. “We are always around nature and getting to see cool things we don’t usually get to see.”

Dalia says she is especially grateful for camp at PWC because her family’s busy schedule doesn’t let her spend as much time outside as she would like. “That’s why I’m so glad I can come here! I wouldn’t get to learn about nature if I didn’t.”

These amateur naturalists learn more about appreciating and conserving our natural environment every time they visit, but it wouldn’t be possible for them to be here without the scholarships we offer. Your donations make a huge difference for Dalia, Ben, and dozens of children like them. Their desire to share their enthusiasm and knowledge about nature with others, is infectious. The people they teach grow their own appreciation of nature, the environment and community around them. They are happier, and live a better quality of life. Your support has an exponential effect.  Thank you for giving nature a place in the hearts of the next generation!
