Selenis is 23 years old, she has a 4-year-old son, graduated from school and she is currently studying to be a Cook in the Technical and Entrepreneurship School of Baru.
She defines herself as a happy person. Despite the problems she always has a smile in her face as she considers that with anger or sadness she wont solve anything.
Selenis has always lived in Barú, which she thinks is so special, because of its humble and united people: “Whenever you need something, they would help you, not like in the city, where you don`t know anybody and if you don’t have money, no one gives you a hand”.
She is the eldest of 14 siblings. This condition made her act as an adult when she still was a little girl. She still feels she needs to behave well because she is her siblings’ role model.
Since she was a little girl, she was interested in cooking. She used to get together with her friends after school to cook for them, with whatever ingredients she found in her house.
Years later, when Selenis finished school she worked at Cholon beach cooking tipical food for the tourist.
Year by year she became more passionate about cooking so she decided to study at the Technical School of Barú. She sees herself as the Head Chef of one of the Hotels located in the island.
She wants to work hard to earn enough money to accomplish her greatest goal, which is that, her son Luis goes to University as he says he wants to be a Doctor.
