Sneider is 22 years old. He was borne in Cartagena but when he was 7, he moved to Baru with his mother. In ninth grade he moved back to Cartagena to live with his father and finish school. Afterwards, he came back to Baru.
This young man says that his best memories are related to his grandmother, who used to prepare delicious meals for the family. She used to call him “her most precious helper”. Sneider cooked with her, who was really patient and explained to him what to do, in order to prepare the most exquisite meals. His favorite was pork, coconut rice and plantain.
This is how he started to find his vocation.
After he finished school and went back to Baru, he started working as Kitchen Helper in a Hotel close to his community. Sneider confirmed that he wanted to be a Cook and set a goal: To work as a Cook in one five- star hotel in Cartagena.
He knew that to achieve his goal he needed to be trained, so he applied in several occasions to the Cooking Program of the National Learning Service, but he was not selected.
Then, he heard about the Cooking Program in the Learning and Entrepreneurship School of Baru and applied. Sneider relates that when he received the call telling him that he was in the program, he felt that he was in the path to fulfill his life project.
Sneider had to resign to his job in order to be able to attend to School, but he is confident and we are too, that this is just a sacrifice he had to do to achieve his dream.
The transportation aid he receives thanks to you donations to the project through Global Giving, are a big help so that he can get to School from Baru everyday to attend his classes.
