About Vanessa's determination

Vanessa is a determined woman who, from an early age, knew what she wanted to do when she grew up.

“When I was a teenager and I was studying, many of my classmates thought school was an obligation and they couldn't wait to graduate, so that they wouldn't have to go to class anymore”, says Vanessa.

“Me on the other hand”, she continues, “(..) just wanted to take advantage of each class and it was clear for me that graduating from high school was not my final goal. Graduating from high school, was just the beginning. With that on mind, I went to my graduation ceremony and on that night of December 2017, while enjoying the party with my classmates, friends and family, I celebrated that I could finally start to study a career.

But, since things don't always turn out the way you want, although my family supported me, they didn’t have enough money to send me to Cartagena to study. I felt somehow discouraged, but I was firm on my desire to study. Then, I found out that in Santa Ana I could do an auxiliary degree without having to pay, so I didn't think it twice and I signed up. In 2018 I studied the auxiliary career in Room Arrangement Service. I had the opportunity to work in a hotel and got my certification. It was a great year and I felt very good about that experience. That is why after the pandemic, between 2021 and 2022 I went back to study the same career, but more specialized, to go from assistant to technician.

Today, I realize that if I hadn't had the desire and the conviction to study when I graduated, I wouldn't have achieved any of this. That is why it is important to know where we are and where we are going”, concludes Vanessa with confidence.
