Re-opening of Schools

By Rose Bugusu | Director

Food to distribution to our children's families
Food to distribution to our children's families

It has not been easy in the past six month of Covid 19 pandemic. The schools were closed and all the children were ordered to go back to their parents.  Most of our high schools are boarding schools and therefore all the students went back to their parents/guardians.

The first two months were better because people could move and go to work but after that there were lockdowns.  This lockdown affected many families because there were no jobs.  Most of the people in rural areas work in farms and are paid $1 per day. The prices of all the commodities increased and this affected our children.  Most of the children depend on the meals served at the school and since they were at home they survived on one meal per day.

Most of the young girls have ended up with early pregnancy and even marriage. We have cases where 14 years girls are pregnant and that means they will not go back to school.

However the schools are being cleaned and the students will report on the 5th October 2020.  The Candidates will report and the rest of the students will report in three months’ time.

We would like to thank all who have stood with us in helping families through the food distribution program. Most of our children didn’t go hungry, we were able to supply food and at least they had a meal.  We also took care of the girls’ needs, we supplied the washable pads and this has kept all the girls in our care safe.

We are kindly requesting that you share our cause with others. We don’t have enough support towards our high school fees program. Our students will be going back to school soon and we do not have enough fees for them.  We had not completed the first term fee payment.

Be our ambassador from your end.  We highly appreciate your support, commitment and prayer. You put a smile on many faces.
