Hi there,
Thank you for standing with families across the U.S. who suddenly lost access to their SNAP food benefits this November. Because of your generosity, we were able to move quickly to fill a critical gap in the social safety net - and we want to share what you helped make possible.
When SNAP benefits failed to load for millions of low-income households on November 1, families found themselves at the start of the month with empty EBT cards and no clear timeline for resolution. Many rely on these benefits to feed their children, and even a short delay can mean going without meals.
Thanks to donors like you, GiveDirectly partnered with Propel (the team behind the Providers app used by millions of SNAP recipients) to immediately identify affected households and deliver emergency cash assistance. Each eligible family received a $50 virtual card they could use right away for food or other essentials.
Because of your support, 236,869 families have now received relief. We’ve heard from parents who were able to buy a week’s worth of groceries, caregivers who finally had enough to get staples like rice and canned goods, and workers who could fill the gap until their benefits restarted. Many told us this assistance arrived at the exact moment they were unsure how they would feed their children.
While the emergency program has now closed, the impact of your gift continues. You helped families weather an unexpected financial shock with dignity, flexibility, and control - exactly when they needed it most.
Thank you for showing up quickly and compassionately. Your support ensured that families didn’t have to face this crisis alone. We’re deeply grateful.
With appreciation,
The GiveDirectly Team
