Feeding the deaf students at Matumbulu has now got much easier as we finally have access to water to irrigate our land. This means we can now grow staple crops like beans, spinach and maize year round, rather than only during the rainy season as before.
As well as reducing our costs, meaning we can support more students, it also means we can improve their diet, so a win win for everyone!
We have been busy making beds and school uniforms. We were unable to buy many raw materials but solved this by recycling broken desks from a school in Dodoma. We are very pround of this recycling initiative.
Students at Kigwe have also benefitted recently by an anonymous donation of uniforms and exercise books which they were previously lacking. Their choir also sang for the president which was a great honour!
And Cleria was delighted to be able to gain a place at secondary school in Iringa where she hopes to continue her path towards becoming a nurse.
