This year, thanks to our generous donors, we have been able to support 19 deaf primary school students and 3 more who gained places at secondary school with essentials such as exercise books, pens, soap and uniform as well as transport costs. Pictured are the students having just received their supplies.
Also pictured are some of the students in their classroom. The boy on the left is Yusuph who we discovered in his village 9 years ago. His mother had run away when he was 2 yrs old after realizing he is deaf. This year he will complete his primary studies. He can now express his views, feelings and ideas through Sign Language and can take part in church services and other events where a translator is present. He is a skilled footballer and was the player of the year at a recent national primary school football competition in Mtwara. His family is now very proud of him. He is charming and very helpful at the school.
There are many more deaf children waiting for an opportunity like this.
Thank you for your support
