Dear Friends of Warrior Canine Connection,
You did it! Thanks to your generous donation via GlobalGiving, Warrior Canine Connection has raised $25,000 to fund the breeding, care, training and placement of a service dog for a Military Veteran with disabilities.
Our GlobalGiving donors also helped WCC to earn more than $5,000 in additional funding by participating in Bonus Challenge days on December 10 and 17. We are enormously grateful for this outpouring of support!
The dog that you have funded will touch the lives of many Warriors over the course of its first two years! Starting at just a couple of weeks of age, the puppy will begin healing the invisible wounds of recovering Service Members in treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Groups of these Warriors will visit the young dog at WCC’s Puppy Enrichment Center in Brookeville, Maryland and will participate in critical socialization activities that will prepare the pup for its future life as a service dog for one of their fellow Veterans.
As the puppy grows, it will be trained by recovering Service Members and Veterans who are suffering from psychological and physical injuries. These Warriors must train the dog to feel comfortable and confident in all environments. In teaching the dog that the world is a safe place, the Warriors will challenge their symptoms of combat stress.
It is hard to overstate the benefits that a single dog can bring to so many over the course of its training:
Then, when the dog is approximately two years of age and has competed training, it will be placed at no cost with a Veteran with disabilities. Its leash will be handed from one Warrior to another ,and the dog will begin many years of life-changing service providing physical and emotional support to one of our Nation’s heroes.
Your donation will allow one dog to transform many lives. Thank you for helping us to support those who have served this country so faithfully.
