Activating Our Girls Pride

By Rirhandzu Mnisi | Project Administrator

This quarter has been filled with many exciting activities from trying to meet sewing deadlines for pads to going out to schools for activations, its has just been super amazing and in celebration of Women's month Nourish partnering with the Timbavati Foundation we went out to six schools Namely Mahlekisani,Berreta,Ndabeni,Lumkisa,Sihlekisi and Mgidi to hand out reusable sanitary pads to girls.

This program is called Activation program and it is aimed at reaching more girls around our region and we thought to kick start it in the month of August to help  boost and celebrate the woman's months in style. The program is runned by Trinity our employee and the Timbavati foundation team, who goes out to schools and give a lesson on Menstruation,Sexuality and other topics that are suitable for teen girls each participant / learner was given a pack of 6 pads, with a sample soap and an instruction Pamphlet on how to take care and wash their pads.

This is still an ongoing project that even to date we are still going out to schools and hand out the sanitary pads to girls in order to help them stay in school and as an extension of this program we also have saturday classes on our Wildflower center "UBUNTU GIRLS CLUB" where teen  girls come and learn about what it means being a female the changes and Challenges they experiencing as young females.

This program is bringing change in raising confident, young educated strong women that our society needs, that is why we are still asking for  your help  to keep on supporting and helping the women in our village.
