Sadee's dream of studying abroad never materialized due to the pandemic. But after she graduated she decided to take her own trip abroad.
She explored several countries, stayed in hostels and met people from around the world. Her trip was going great until one evening when another traveller she had befriended drugged her drink while they were out with a group of people.
Sadee woke up in her bed and had no memory of what happened the night before. She had bruises and other signs of sexual assault on her body. Alone and terrified, she emailed our crisis advocate.
Our crisis advocate was able to provide emotional support, let her know what options there were in the country for law enforcement and medical response. She also informed Sadee of English speaking resources in the country. Sadee was grateful for our support and told our crisis advocate that she would email back.
It took several weeks before we heard back again from Sadee. She decided not to report but did get a rape kit and is now back in the USA receiving mental health services.
She thanked us for being there for her when she was too afraid to communicate with anyone else.
We want to thank you for believing in our mission so we can help victims in need.
