Amanda was studying abroad in Madrid when a fellow student sexually assaulted her in her apartment. Amanda was terrified. He had come over to study for a final exam and they each had a glass of wine. He made a pass at her and she told him no. He took a kitchen knife and held it to her throat, forced he onto the floor and raped her.
He told her if she reported him he would say it was Amanda that made a pass at him and the sex was consensual.
Amanda didn't want the study abroad program or her parents to know.
We immediately had one of our volunteer sexual assault advocacy response team members assist Amanda in Madrid with medical needs. Since the semester was over she returned home adn and we got her connected with a counselor in her hometown.
Amanda will be in counseling for a long time. But because of donations like yours, we were able to help her immediately in her darkest hour of need. Thank you! The AODVC Team.
