Dan was traveling in Amsterdam, while at a nightclub Dan was attacked, raped and stabbed in the abdomen. Two other men found him in the bathroom and immediately called an ambulance and rushed him to the hospital.
Dan called our hotline and spoke to Victory, one of our SASHAA case managers, while still at the hospital. He was completely distraught and in shock. Victory spent several hours on the phone with Dan comforting him, listening to him and helping him think about what he wanted to do next. He was overwhelmed with the police asking him questions and Victory stayed with him on the phone the whole time. Dan decided he just wanted to come home.
We helped Dan change his airline ticket for an earlier flight date and paid the difference in his airline ticket.. Dan is still in contact with Victory as he recovers from the assault. His stab is now healed but he will need some time on his emotional wounds.
Thank you for allowing us to help victims like Dan!
