Over this past quarter, Lidar Community Foundation focused on strengthening organizational capacity and equipping young mothers with practical vocational and life skills to improve their economic independence, following a previous quarter centered on access to youth-friendly health services.
Vocational Skills Training
We supported 30 young mothers through a three-week, skills-based training program at our community centre. The training covered employability and life skills, including communication and conflict resolution, hygiene and housekeeping, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and basic baking and cooking skills. These sessions aimed to prepare young mothers for employment or small business start-ups to support their families.
Story of Change
One of our participants, Ms. Adelheid Slinger, a young mother of a baby boy, successfully secured employment with Namibia Post Holding Services after completing the training. Her achievement reflects our growing collaboration with local employment partners and our commitment to supporting other mothers toward job placements or income-generating activities.
Strengthening Our Capacity
To better serve our beneficiaries, we continued to build partnerships with local and international networks. In October, we hosted three senior consultants from SAP, through a partnership with Pyxera Global, who supported improvements to our internal systems. Additionally, Mrs. Natalie Ernemann joined our project remotely as a Program Manager based in Spain after discovering our work online. Our recycling project continues at the centre, providing young women with an additional avenue to generate income while promoting environmental responsibility.
Looking Ahead
In the coming months, we will continue strengthening job placement pathways, support young mothers with entrepreneurship opportunities, expand BeFree Campus memberships, and amplify their voices on national advocacy platforms. Every step forward is made possible through your continued support.
Thank you for walking with us — together, we are building pathways of hope and opportunity for young mothers in Namibia.
