Sijonge Kuwe Youth Development Project closed for December holidays on 14/12/23 and re-opened for the new year on 8/1/2024.
The aim of this project is to empower the disadvantaged communities of Khayelitsha and surrounding areas with food gardening skills, business skills training and aftercare programme.9 households were trained in food gardening skills training and business skills training during this period from 11 September 2023 to 11 January 2024.
5 Women and 4 youths are now running their owned food gardening projects in their yards producing vegetables to support themselves thereby fighting poverty and unemployment. All these people were given start up kits and small equipment to run the businesses. The main aim is for them to support themselves in the short term and eventually selling the surplus in the long term.
We would like to thank GlobalGiving and our donors for their support during this period.
