Rede Asta is a social business that supports the role of women artisans in the creation and development of sustainable solutions from the reuse of waste. By connecting labor to the production of corporate gifts from the waste of large companies, the organization provides the re-significance in three aspects: (i) to the lives of women entrepreneurs, (ii) to materials that would go to waste and (iii) to the form of consumption and disposal of large organizations.
SITAWI supported the initiative through the Social and environmental Loan mechanism, enabling the purchase of complementary materials for the production of corporate gifts for a large client. The supply of patient capital allowed the productive cycle not to be broken. "Rede Asta is a proven and relevant impact business for low income communities and, above all, women artisans who are able, through the network, to have access to constant corporate demand, an efficient logistics network and professional training. In this way, it constitutes a business of social and environmental impact relevant to society," commented the analyst of Social Finance at SITAWI.
With an inclusive essence for both the producer and the buyer, Rede Asta offers corporations the production of handmade sustainable gifts with upcycling techniques from the company's own waste. For artisans, it offers entrepreneurial vision training focused on the manufactured market; a network of businesses; and access to the market for buyers of craft products and services. In addition, it maintains a Business School for Artisans, which aims to teach how to manage income from products, as well as empower and make artisans independent. Brazil is still a country with a strong gender exclusion. Although the majority of the population are women, they find it more difficult to enter the labor market and, when employed, have lower wages than men.
