Hello,
Welcome to SITAWI´S report! Check out our latest news!
Training for young social entrepreneurs
The Agência de Redes para Juventude (Agency of Youth Networks) is a project in pacified favelas in Rio that offers young people opportunities, connections and tools to transform the areas where they live. As part of the project, in August, SITAWI held a workshop on fundraising for 45 young social entrepreneurs.
New Social Loan
In October, SITAWI made a new loan to Soldarium, a social business we first worked with back in 2009. Solidarium works with low-income artisans throughout Brazil to give them opportunities to sell their handicrafts and increasing their incomes. In 2012, Solidarium created an online marketplace to connect with a wider audience and is now working with Pró-Amazônia, an organization that promotes sustainable development among the Yanomami in Amazon, through fairer trade that will help the tribe to preserve and value its cultural heritage. SITAWI has lent R$60,000 to allow Pró-Amazônia and Solidarium to deliver 3,000 traditional handicrafts to a Brazilian furniture chain.
Strengthening the Social Sector in Brazil
Between 28 and 30 November, SITAWI will take part in ONG Brasil in São Paulo, an annual conference and gathering for the Brazilian social sector. The event is recognized as the largest cross-sector social responsibility meeting in Latin America, and will bring together social organizations, investors in social initiatives and public policy specialists. We look forward to seeing you at our stand!
