skilling 240 women from mulago katanga slum

We have not been able to have the tailoring classes since last year due to limited funds. However, we have been able to stay in touch with the women who have been in the previous classes.

Shamim, one of the ladies who has managed to use her skills to make school uniforms for different schools which enables her take care of her five children, ensuring they acquire education and also put food on the table. The tailoring skills have enabled her to develop greatly and also earn an income to help take care of her parents in the village.

The after COVID effects are increasing rapidly in Uganda, which makes it hard for the women to find market for their made products. Through monitoring and evaluation of the women in the community, we are able to set up workshops for the women on how to market their products to help them penetrate into the local market. More to that, we make orders as an organization and pay the mothers once the products are sold to the volunteers who come through the organization.

Sarah one of the students in the class of 2022, says," I am grateful for the skills I learnt because I can now earn a daily income from tailoring or repairing peoples torn clothes which conveniences that with time, I will be able to grow big and advance in my skills to get my family out of poverty and out of the slums".

 Moving forward, we are dedicated to empowering more women and equipping them with skills that bring hope to the women in the community.
