Tailoring in AIL Workshops

By Shehab Yacoobi | Project Manager

The Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) continues to expand opportunities for Afghan women through its tailoring workshops, which provide both practical skills and a pathway toward financial independence. In many communities where women’s access to traditional employment and education has been severely limited, tailoring has become a powerful tool for empowerment. Through these workshops, participants learn essential sewing techniques, garment construction, and small-business skills that allow them to create clothing and textiles that can be sold within their communities. The program not only equips women with a valuable trade, but also restores a sense of dignity, confidence, and self-reliance for individuals who have been denied opportunities for far too long.

With the support of our dedicated donors, AIL has been able to provide sewing machines, materials, and instruction to women eager to learn and support their families. As demand for these workshops continues to grow, additional resources will allow us to expand the program, train more instructors, and reach women in underserved areas. Your continued partnership ensures that these women are not only learning a skill, but building sustainable livelihoods and hope for a more secure future.
