Dear grandpas, grandmas, uncles and aunties of the SOAR Family,
Hope you are all doing well! I remembered last time I chat with grandpa Zhou, how is he now?
I graduated from Huangping National Middle School in Guizhou Province, sorry i don’t remember my ID :( Now I’m a freshman at Tsinghua University, majoring in Engineering Physics. Back in the summer vacation time, I wanted to write to you and share the exciting news. But I couldn’t find your mailing address. It took me a long time to find this email. My sincere apology for the delay in replying to the previous email from SOAR regarding my status quo, goals for new semester and the scholarship application.
Thanks a million for your help, support and awarded the SOAR Scholarship during my past three years in highschool. SOAR helped me to find the solutions to many difficult problems in my life. I still remember all the details when you visited our school for the first time. It was just like yesterday. I felt very excited to meet you all as a group of SOAR volunteers travelled across the pacific ocean and mountains in China to visit us -- poor rural mountainous area students. Seriously, your kindness was totally out of my expectations. I was worried that you would get sick in our harsh weather conditions. Our teachers told us many of you actually got sick after returning to the United States, which made me feel upset and hope you recovered immediately.
Poor as I am, I know that learning is the only way to change my fate and my family’s situation. Now I can’t live for my own good. At Tsinghua University, I will study hard and guarantee will not fail your expectations. I hope I will thrive in the future and help other SOAR students just like you helped me.
All in all, as a SOAR student, I greatly appreciate the care and support from SOAR family in my three years of highschool life. :)
I wish you good health and all the best!
Liangliang
SOAR Student
