From the Field to the Heart: A Tale of Empowerment

By Moises Bazan | Project Reporter

Dear donor

I am writing to update you on the progress of the Empowering +200 Young Soccer Players in Paraguay project, which is being implemented by Poverty Stoplight from January to April. I would like to provide you with an overview of the main activities that have been carried out thanks to the funds received.

Through the joint efforts of the Club Cerro Porteño Foundation and the Fundación Paraguaya, the project has been able to offer a variety of opportunities and actions to improve the well-being of young athletes. The following are the main activities that have been undertaken:

  • Learning English at the Club: Thanks to a partnership with the National System of Training and Vocational Training (Sinafocal), the CCP Foundation has provided young athletes with the opportunity to learn English for the first time. The program offers a series of basic courses in the language, aimed at promoting the professional development of the athletes in the training divisions. 25 students participated in the training, and all received uniforms and didactic materials to support their learning.
  • Strengthening Mental Health: Mental health is a crucial topic for the Foundation, and as such, group dynamics have been implemented to address the importance of sports psychology, led by Mr. Diego Melgarejo.
  • Promoting Healthy Eating Habits: The Foundation has been working to promote healthy eating habits among the young athletes, with the help of specialist in Clinical Nutrition, Ms. Mercedes Arias. Nutritional talks have been conducted to teach the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and consuming essential nutrients from an early age.

These activities have had a positive impact on the young athletes and the local community. We are grateful for the support provided by GlobalGiving, which has enabled us to carry out these important activities. We look forward to continued collaboration in our efforts to empower young soccer players in Paraguay.
