Respecting Freedom and Independence

Dear Alhassan Donors, Supporters, and Believer

Thank you for donating for our initiatives for raising “Social Awareness about Differently Abled in Egypt” project. This project is mainly what our mission and vision are about. We believe that by changing the mentality of our community and how they perceive physically-challenged people, we will spend less time and effort demanding wheelchair users’ basic human rights; it’ll be a given to consider their needs.

Every situation has its own way of being handled, and paying attention to the details can make all the difference. In certain moments, interacting with a person with a disability requires extra care—because a small step or movement without thought can cause discomfort, create risk, or feel like an unwanted intrusion. Understanding how to act thoughtfully is what truly matters.

For example, when a person is transferring from their wheelchair, it’s important not to reach out unless they ask, and to let them choose the method that feels most comfortable. If the wheelchair is electric, it is their personal means of mobility, and pushing it without permission is never appropriate. For those using crutches or a walker, they should set their own pace and path.

In public spaces, like bathrooms or reception areas, help should come through guidance and clear directions, not physical interference. If a wheelchair needs maintenance or adjustment, it is always best to wait until help is requested. During bad weather, random assistance can actually be dangerous, so asking first is crucial.

Even when obstacles appear suddenly on the street, the person often knows best how to navigate them. In crowded areas, giving enough space for the wheelchair to move freely is essential. On long journeys or trips, listening to the individual’s needs for comfort or chair placement, rather than assuming, ensures their safety and dignity.

Every situation requires respecting the person’s freedom and privacy. Rushing in or making assumptions can be uncomfortable—or even risky. Awareness, patience, and thoughtful action are what truly make the difference.

Thank you dear donors for your donations; your support is what enables us in our mission so we urge you to continue supporting our cause and stay loyal donors to our cause through subscribing to a monthly recurring donation option.
