As the summer semester approaches, we are pleased to share the progress of our Social-emotional Learning (SEL) Program during the first half of 2025. Building on the success of 2024, the program continues to grow steadily, delivering high-quality SEL education to disadvantaged children across three provinces in China: Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Gansu.
So far this year, over 426 underserved students have participated in our SEL program, supported by 28 trained volunteers and trainers who have delivered more than 316 engaging and impactful lessons.
Our core objective is to cultivate essential emotional skills in children, including self-management, self-awareness, and social awareness. By nurturing these abilities, we help children build greater self-esteem, confidence, resilience, and stronger interpersonal skills, which in turn foster a more positive motivation to learn and overall well-being.
In 2025, our team has continued to develop and refine the curriculum, introducing new lessons for Grades 1–2 students and enhancing content for Grades 3–5. Additionally, we provided targeted training sessions for five local teachers from under-resourced schools in Gansu province. These sessions deepened their understanding of child emotional development and strengthened their capacity to support students’ social and emotional growth. This holistic approach ensures that children receive the tools and support they need both inside and outside the classroom.
Looking ahead to the summer semester, we plan to extend our interventions to reach over 350 additional students, focusing on strategies to improve emotional regulation and interpersonal skills.
None of these achievements would be possible without the tireless dedication and generosity of our volunteers, donors, and supporters. Thank you for helping us expand access to transformative educational opportunities that empower under-served children across China.
