As the fall semester begins, we are delighted to share that our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program continues to grow in 2026, helping disadvantaged children across China develop essential life skills and build the confidence to thrive.
From January to September 2026, our SEL program reached over 800 students in Shanghai, Henan, and Fujian. Many participated in sessions at our own Community Center in Minhang, Shanghai. During this period, we recruited and trained more than 50 volunteers who, together with our trainers, delivered over 510 lessons. Through these activities, children learned to recognize, understand, regulate, and express their emotions.
Our SEL program creates safe and respectful spaces where children feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring their emotions. Through interactive discussions, games, and hands-on activities, students strengthen their emotional self-awareness and self-regulation, empathy, collaboration, and goal-setting skills.
This fall, we are further expanding SEL activities at our Community Center in Shanghai, while strengthening support for children with more individualized needs. To support this development, we have recruited a dedicated staff member with a social work qualification. This additional expertise will help us provide more targeted support to children and families, strengthen emotional regulation activities, and expand training and guidance for teachers and staff.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, the generosity of our donors, and the continued support of our partners. Together, we are helping children build the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to thrive. Thank you for being part of this journey!
