What an intense week in Montes de María! With their spirits intact, our SOLE explorers loaded their suitcases full of illusion to give a hug to the Ambassadors and Communities that this year were part of this project that SOLE Colombia led in 15 more communities, accompanied by the IOM Explorers and the Hiladores 2023. The latter put on their shirts to close this year together with those who, like them a year ago, said "YES" to discover new ways to create an equitable and beautiful future together, one Big Question at a time.

And, as always, great logistics and coordination made it possible for everything to be ready: the space, the devices, the people and the Internet. The only four things that are essential to do SOLE.

In my previous post, I left you wondering: what about the Connection Station and the Granny Station, what are they all about?

At the Connection Station we talked about how communities are connecting to the internet and how they will sustain it into the future. There is no doubt that this is the great challenge of national integration and the incorporation of the territories hit by violence in Colombia: the lack of connectivity makes people even further away. But the most important thing is not to have connection, it is to maintain it. Who does it depend on to maintain the connection? What resources do communities have to make the Internet service solid and stable in their communities, now that they already have devices and connectivity systems, appropriate to their places? To what extent are people being able to maintain that service, adopting technological skills and trusting in themselves to continue closing the digital divide? All these things are what we are working on in the Estación Conexión.

And, to close with a flourish: the Granny Station. At the Granny Station what we do is, you know, what a Granny does: accompany, give warm encouragement, create an open and loving space where people can truly connect with each other, heart to heart. So, we have talked about typical dances and food, beautiful places, what makes us happy, our longings, the things we can teach each other, what we would show each other if we were close... We have created bonds that will remain in time and that make us happy, on each side of the Internet line. The Internet has become the vehicle to establish bonds forever.

Isn't it beautiful?

And we are learning to do it together! We are learning to keep this flame alive....

Montes de María 2023 se despide de 2023

¡Qué intensa semana en Montes de María! Con el ánimo intacto, nuestros exploradores SOLE cargaron su maleta llena de ilusión para dar un abrazo a los Embajadores y Comunidades que este año hicieron parte de este proyecto que SOLE Colombia lideró en 15 comunidades más, acompañados de los Exploradores OIM y los Hiladores 2023. Estos últimos se pusieron la camiseta para cerrar este año junto a aquellos que, igual que ellos hace un año, dijeron "SI" a descubrir nuevas formas de crear un futuro equitativo y hermoso juntos, una Gran Pregunta a la vez.

Y, como siempre, una gran labor logística y de coordinación hicieron posible que todo estuviera a punto: el espacio, los dispositivos, las personas y el Internet. Las únicas cuatro cosas que son imprescindibles para hacer SOLE.

En mi anterior entrega, os dejé con la intriga: ¿qué pasa con la Estación de Conexión y la Estación de Abuelitas? ¿En qué consisten?

En la Estación Conexión hablamos de cómo las comunidades se están conectando a Internet y cómo lo van a mantener hacia el futuro. No hay duda de que este es el gran reto de la integración nacional y la incorporación de los territorios golpeados por la violencia en Colombia: la falta de conectividad hace que las personas estén aún más lejos. Pero lo más importante no es tener conexión, es mantenerla. ¿De quién depende que la conexión se mantenga? ¿Con qué recursos cuentan las comunidades para hacer sólido y estable el servicio de Internet en sus comunidades, ahora que ya tienen dispositivos y sistemas de conectividad, adecuados a sus lugares? ¿En qué medida las personas están siendo capaces de mantener ese servicio, adoptando y las habilidades tecnológicas y confiando en sí mismos para seguir cerrando la brecha digital? todas esas cosas son las que se trabajan en la Estación Conexión.

Y, para cerrar con broche de oro: la Estación Abuelitas. En la Estación Abuelitas lo que hacemos es, ya sabéis, lo que hace una Abuelita: acompañar, dar cálido aliento, crear un espacio abierto y amoroso donde las personas puedan conectar verdaderamente unas con otras, de corazón a corazón. Así, hemos hablado de bailes y comidas típicas, lugares hermosos, lo que nos hace felices, nuestros anhelos, las cosas que podemos enseñarnos unos a otros, lo que nos mostraríamos unos a otros si estuviéramos cerca... hemos creado lazos que permanecerán en el tiempo y que nos hacen felices, a cada lado de la línea de Internet. Internet se ha vuelto el vehículo para establecer lazos para siempre.

¿No es hermoso?

Y ¡estamos aprendiendo a hacerlo juntos! Estamos aprendiendo a mantener esta llama viva...
