Antioquia region nostalgia and good news for 2024

Antioquia region nostalgia and good news for 2024

SOLE is the gateway for the communities with which we work to develop technological skills, which allow them to use the Internet in groups, interact with content and applications and, ultimately, belong to the contemporary world, taking care of the way in which they relate. with the Internet, acquiring habits that allow them to use it in a safe, fun and oriented way towards learning, dialogue and self-organized action.

What does this mean? Well, for example, that Aydé and Margarita, in Puerto Belgica, two elderly women, are capable, today, of organizing a SOLE with the young people of their community, of understanding how the connection works, of knowing how to make a video call . with a Granny (you can see who the Grannies are in SOLE Colombia's Granny Cloud) many kilometers away, to use the planning and reflection forms for their SOLE session and to encourage young people to participate in the research . around Big Questions… They feel much more confident, they feel a new place in their community, they attract others to interact with technology and improve their daily life in simple things, for example, if they have to request a telephone appointment with your family doctor.

Or Valentina, a young teenager in Monte Frío, who dares to summon the primary school children of her community's educational institution to ask herself why it is important to use sunscreen? Valentina, today, is emerging as a fabulous leader in her environment, dedicated and charismatic, powerful and dedicated. You will be very capable of participating in an online Nonviolent Communication course, where you will strengthen your leadership and will be key to helping your community resolve differences in a healthy way.

Like them, the examples are infinite.

The important thing about doing SOLE is not the answers. The important thing about self-organized action is everything that accompanies it, the excuse is the Big Question. The important thing that happens is that people are capable and realize that they are capable. Able to organize themselves to learn or to talk about important things, to get going to make it happen, to manage resources (materials, spaces, refreshments - if they decide it is important or appropriate to provide them to encourage participation), to socialize their initiative and follow up to ensure that people participate, arrange the space, know how to connect the devices and guarantee the Internet connection, know how to solve problems that may arise, help facilitate, guide the captain, work as a team, understand information, reach agreements, take note of the conclusions and encourage further study of the topics they discover…

Dear Madrinas, we are truly witnessing a wonderful transformation. Thank you for supporting Aide, Margarita, Valentina... and so many SOLE Ambassadors and session participants, because you are making possible a more connected world with the purpose of creating an equitable and beautiful future, together.

We will continue bringing SOLE to communities that survived the armed conflict in Colombia in 2024. We hope to have your trust for another year!

Big hug,

Belen
