Dear Romania Animal Rescue Friends,
Happy Holidays to you! Thank you for supporting our projects to spay and neuter cats. I am happy to announce that Romania Animal Rescue is nearing 10,000 spays and neuters (dogs and cats) for the year of 2016, and over 53,000 in total since we began our major spay campaigns primarily in 2009.
In October, RAR ran simultaneous campaigns at Family Vet in Craiova and in rural villages with our mobile ambulance, HOPE. It was an amazing and extremely successful week of 475 spays and neuters, with the total for the month of October well over 1000 spays and neuters. Volunteers from Europe, Canada and the USA came to help in the month of October and it was lovely to meet our friends in person.
The Center of Hope, in Ilfov County near Bucharest, had its pre-opening celebration on October 16, also welcoming visitors from around the globe to see the great strides being made by Romania Animal Rescue and our sister charities to change the face of animal welfare in Romania with this immense ground-breaking Center.
Please take a look at our NEW website that includes the work of Romania Animal Rescue and our sister UK Charity Animal Spay and Neuter International.
Spring is just around the corner, and this means that we are in a rush to spay as many cats as possible. Our mobile campaigns have slowed down due to the cold weather and dangerous road conditions of Romanian winter, but the clinics in Craiova, Iasi, Moreni, Bucharest, and Vatra Dornei have been carrying on spay and neuter projects for the animals of impoverished people who could otherwise not afford this service. The Center of Hope is almost ready to receive patients, and we need YOUR SUPPORT so that we can begin to address the issue of abandoned cats and kittens surrounding Bucharest.
Thank you for reaching out to continue to help the cats in Romania. I am often asked why a citizen of the USA chooses to help Romanian animals. I understand the great need in the USA. The issue is Romania is immense, the kitties cannot help where they were born. There is little if any help for the cats of Romania, only a handful of shelters (2 that I am aware of). We feel it in our hearts to help these animals, and with your assistance, we can do just that.
Thank you and all the best for 2017!
