Season's Greetings!

Dear Supporters and Friends,

We at Romania Animal Rescue have been extremely busy with spays and neuters.  Our new total as of November 30 is:

134,811 dogs and cats that will no longer reproduce unwanted offspring in a country that cannot or will not provide for them.

Our team of dedicated veterinarians, vet techs and nurses also train other veterinarians so that they too will be able to return to their communities and provide excellent surgeries for more animals.

The surgical technique used by our vets is achieved by using spay hooks for spaying.  This provides a minimally invasive operation leaving a small wound that can be as small as one and a half centimeters *.  Through this the ovaries and uterus are removed and can be done in few minutes.  This provides less trauma on the body and less recovery time.  The Hook Technique was taught to our Veterinary Director Dr. Aurelian Stefan by an American vet 15 years ago.  Dr. Aurelian then taught this technique to his fellow surgeons, who now along with Dr. Aurelian train new vets via our  Veterinary Training Program carried on at Center of Hope hospital Romania.  Romania Animal Rescue Inc. is able to sponsor the training of Romanian vets as our donations allow.  The cost for this intensive training program is $1800, and includes lodging at our Center of Hope near Bucharest.

*Animals that have had multiple pregnancies or pyometra require larger incisions.

We are pleased to be renowned for this incredible work in Romania....and with our UK partner, Animal Spay and Neuter International, have been able to reach more countries these past few months.

RAR has been traveling to Sliven, Bulgaria for now 12 spayathon campaigns.  Generally twice a year.  Animal Spay and Neuter International funds these campaigns through donations with our vet team.  We also went to the country of Moldova, the seemingly  forgotten country locked between Romania and Ukraine.   This was our second spayathon in Moldova, also with the help of Animal Spay and Neuter International.  Dr. Aurelian reports that Moldova is like Romania was 30 years ago, with little presence of any animal welfare.

I would like to personally thank each and everyone of you who continues to help our mission.  Less unwanted animals means less suffering.  Thank you with all my heart for your care and compassion.
