The town of Vatra Dornei is known as a ski resort for many.  It is also a town in Romania with no veterinarian who can provide spay neuter surgeries.  In September, Romania Animal Rescue returned to Vatra Dornei to provide free spay/neuter for 102 animals.  Thanks to donations from yourselves, we are able to travel to remote locations that are in desperate need.

Not only were spays/neuters done, but many animals were suffering from other complications, all of which were addressed and surgeries provided.  Here is a "thank you" to you all from the locals in Vatra Dornei, who are very appreciative for your care of the animals in their town:

Vatra Dornei Spay/Neuter Project

RAR team was very busy in September!! We went to Vatra Dornei for the second time and after three days of really hard work we did it! 102 dogs spayed/neutered in Vatra Dornei, 76 females and 26 males, brought in by their owners or their protectors! This project meant a lot for for Vatra Dornei dggies and their carers. This project was literally a life-saving team effort.

You see there is no authorized vet clinic in Vatra Dornei and there is no trained vet who can spay/neuter cats or dogs, the animals' only hope is that their owners take them to another city, Campulung city located 100 km away, for emergency situations. Unfortunately not everybody has the physical means or the money for things like this. During our spay/neuter campaign we had numerous other issues to address besides spay/neuter: Mammary tumors, hernias and very nasty cases of piometra.  So, yes, this project saved the lives of the ones we operated on and treated but also spared thousands of lives: The unwanted litters, unwanted pups that would not survive harsh winters in the mountains alone on the streets. I am forever grateful to all amazing donors who supported us with our work! Many thanks and much respect to Vatra Dornei team for organizing and supervising this campaign! Roxana Stanisor Pasat and Mirela Gatej, and lots of love to all RAR supporters! you give us hope and means to continue our work, to accomplish what we have committed to: No more strays and no more suffering!
