Romania Animal Rescue and our sister charity Animal Spay Neuter International are continually providing spay neuter throughout Romania. New peasant villages such as Tantava and Tunari are being added to our already amazing number of cities and towns that we help.
One such successful campaign that was begun over a year ago is in Vatra Dornei. Vatra Dornei is located in Northern Romania. There are no vets who can provide spay/neuter services in this town, and upon our first arrival in this town the stray dog population was immense. We began by having spayathons for 50 dogs as our funding could allow, and then returned as often as possible. Then in May RAR sent the entire Dream Team to Vatra Dornei to do a massive spayathon for over 200 animals.
The turn out from the community was great, the Mayor attended and brought in his animals. We reached out to donors to ask for more funds so that we could return to Vatra Dornei for MONTHLY campaigns and the response was positive!
We now have monthly spay campaigns in Vatra Dornei with our Northern Romania Dream Team, based out of Iasi.
I would like to share what a citizen of Vatra Dornei sent to me on Facebook:
Dear Nancy Janes,
Thank you, Romania Animal Rescue for improving month by month the strays' situation in Vatra Dornei! To be frank, the difference is obvious, than other cities: the strays are fewer and fewer on the streets, you actually need to search for them closely, the streets are safer and more people have now their dogs neutered, less abandonment. Long term spay campaigns are the real solution for this 'stray problem'. Congratulation and thank you for the involvement!
Thanks to you and your support, we are able to help in remote towns such as Vatra Dornei!
