At El Refugio we work closely with the local community, the municipality, and the National Institute for Animal Welfare (INBA) to identify locations where spay and neuter surgeries can be performed. This collaboration allows us to reach as many people as possible across different areas, providing free spay and neuter services.
Our spay and neuter events are widely advertised on social media, and we provide a phone number for people to schedule appointments. Each event is limited to a maximum of 60 to 80 surgeries, but demand is so high that there are always more people waiting for the next opportunity. In addition to spaying and neutering, we also microchip the animals, ensuring they are registered and can be easily identified if lost.
By offering these services, we help prevent unwanted litters and reduce the number of animals abandoned on the streets. However, the high demand for these events demonstrates the ongoing need for more resources to expand our reach and serve even more animals and their families.
Your support is crucial in helping us continue this essential work. With your help, we can increase the number of spay and neuter surgeries we provide, ultimately reducing the number of animals that end up in our shelter and improving the lives of both the animals and the people in our community.
