According to the Lancet, Pakistan has the second highest burden of Hepatitis C globally. Our lady health workers visit homes in the rural areas of Sindh in an effort to not only check on the welfare of the local community but they also provide them with invaluble information and health education.
While on a routine visit, Sughra Bibi came to the attention of our LHW (Lady Health Worker). Sughra complained of extreme fatigue and had jaundice like symptoms. She was refered to SHINE Humanity's clinic where under our Hepatitis eradication program she was tested for Hepatitis C. When a positive result was returned, Sughra bibi was enrolled into our Hepatitis program and over the next few months she was administered treatment for her disease as well as advised on how to prevent transmission. After nine months she is finally free from Hepatitis C and her health has improved.
Hepatitis C if left untreated can lead to liver cirrhosis, anti viral medicines can cure more than 95% of cases. Your donations for our Hepatitis program ensure regular screening and treatment for our patients, as well as awareness about the disease to the whole community.
