Save the lives of 100 Hepatitis C patients

Worldwide, as Pakistan has the second highest number of Hepatitis cases, there is a need to alleviate the burden of this disease especially in rural and low income communities that have limited access to healthcare.

SHINE Humanity launched its Hepatitis Eradication Program in 2021. In collaboration with the Health Foundation our program has initiated screening of the rural population. The screening results showed that around 30% of the population tested positive for Hepatitis C, these patients were enrolled into our program which provides free treatment and further testing till patients are free from the disease.

To take its mission to help eradicate Hepatitis C a step further SHINE Humanity has also started vaccination of patients that have tested positive. Furthermore our LHW (Lady Health Workers) conduct bi-weekly sessions to educate the local community around Gharo about Hepatitis awareness.

A female patient, Sughra came to our clinic with severe fatigue and jaundice like symptoms. She was tested and was found to be positive and received treatment for nine months till her results were clear. Through our Hepatitis program Sughra was also given counselling and awareness so her family could also stay free of the disease.

Our program focuses on disseminating awareness about Hepatitis C in rural communities. We try to prevent the disease before it transmits into the community.
