According to the World Health Organization, anti-viral medicines can cure more than 95% of persons with a Hepatitis C infection. However access to diagnosis and treatment is very low especially in under-served areas such as the towns and villages around Gharo in Sindh, Pakistan.
Manzoora, a 65-year-old woman came into the SHINE clinic with complaints of fever, itching, dark urine and pain in her stomach. Normally an active person, she was so exhausted that she found it difficult to do simple chores around her house.
At the SHINE Humanity clinic, she met with a qualified doctor who after running a few tests diagnosed her with Hepatitis C. Immediately, a treatment plan was mapped out which she was told to follow. Over the course of her treatment her symptoms started to improve and she gradually started regaining her strength. The doctor closely monitored her progress every time she came in for her follow-up appointments.
Manzoora is grateful to SHINE Humanity for their timely diagnosis and providing her with adequate support to make a full recovery. The SHINE clinic has proven to be efficient, accessible and cost-effective in providing healthcare to people like Manzoora whose lives greatly impoved with not only medication but also awareness about healthcare which they can share with family.
