My name is Nasreen, and I am a 35 year old housewife looking after an extended family. Recently, while undergoing Hepatitis screening at the SHINE Humanity Clinic, I tested positive for the Hepatitis C virus. The doctors explained that my diagnosis confirmed why I had been experiencing fever, nausea and vomiting, along with swelling in my abdomen.
Initially, I was very anxious and felt as though I would have to alter my lifestyle completely around managing this unfamiliar disease. However, thanks to the expertise, care and effective Hepatitis treatment provided by the dedicated team of physicians and nurses at the SHINE Humanity Clinic, I realize that with timely intervention and treatment, this disease is indeed curable.
Since the launch of our Hepatitis Eradication Program in 2021 our screening results showed that around 30% of the population tested positive for Hepatitis C, these patients were enrolled into our program which provides free treatment and further testing till the patients are free from the disease. SHINE Humanity has started vaccination of patients that have tested positive, while our LHW (Lady Health Workers) conduct bi-weekly sessions to educate the local community around Gharo about Hepatitis awareness.
SHINE Humanity aims to provide quality healthcare to underserved commnuites, this is only possible with the help of our donors. We are gratefull for your support.
