Hepatitis affects more than 300 million people worldwide, leading to more than 1 million deaths each year. Even though effective vaccinations and medications exist, its rate of mortality continues to rise globally.
AllahDino, is a resident of Salaar Goth, Dhabeji. AllahDino came to the SHINE Humanity Clinic seeking treatment for Hepatitis C. Sharing his story, he explained how his journey with Hepatitis C began. He described experiencing persistent burning sensation in his stomach, heat and discomfort in the soles of his feet, and difficulty moving outdoors due to his symptoms. These issues had significantly affected the quality of his daily life and well-being, resulting in an inability to properly care for his family.
At #SHINEHumanity, we have been providing screening services to an average of 1000 patients per month for Hepatitis, while providing vaccinations and treatment. By continuing with our micro-elimination drives, we aim to eliminate the disease in rural Sindh. Initial tests were conducted for AllahDino, which confirmed his condition and set the stage for his treatment. Medication greatly improved his symptoms, giving him a sense of normalacy and greater hope for his future and that of his family.
Hepatitis treatment requires a holistic effort, from spreading awareness to providing access to health facilities. Conducting awareness sessions is just one step in our mission to eliminate Hepatitis and build healthier communities. SHINE Humanity is grateful to its donors who provide hope and optimism to underserved communities in Pakistan.
