Dear GlobalGiving community and friends of Fundación Patronato.
A special greeting, we hope you are well and healthy.
This time we want to share with you the story of José, a three-year-old boy who lives in Medellín - Colombia with his parents and brother, has bifida spine with hydrocephalus and receives medical support from our Foundation.
Since February 2021, José and his mother Alix got to know our Foundation and came looking for medical support when they did not find an answer from the public health system in Colombia.
Bifida spine is a malformation that occurs during pregnancy and affects the normal development of the spinal cord, this situation can increase the probability of suffering from muscle weakness, hormonal disorders, bowel and bladder incontinence, learning difficulties and also hydrocephalus, which is a condition where its main characteristic is the excessive accumulation of in the brain, generating negative consequences in mental development.
Thanks to your generous donation, we have managed to support José with comprehensive rehabilitation such as for spina bifida and hydrocephalus, he has received specialized consultations, exams, medications, home care, early stimulation, motor skills therapies, plastic arts, pedagogical initiation, music , hydrotherapy, creative talent and self-care.
Your generosity is playing a key role in improving the quality of many children who, like José, need health support to grow healthier, stronger and happier.
I thank you on behalf of the Foundation for the valuable support that benefits our families.
Best regards.
