The prevalence of undiagnosed diabetes and prediabetes is much higher in the rural communities of Pakistan when compared to like settings in other low to middle income countries around the world. SHINE Humanity’s Diabetes program in collaboration with Hussaini Blood Bank has been running for the past two years. By conducting randomized testing our doctors are able test and diagnose patients and provide them with necessary treatment and advice.
Asghar, a 50-year old resident of Gharo has been enrolled in our Diabetes Program since 2021. He came to our clinic on an unrelated matter, after random testing, he was diagnosed with diabetes. SHINE’s counselling services were able to advise Asghar about everyday changes he could adopt to his diet and lifestyle.
SHINE believes in providing a holistic medical care, not just providing medicines but also encouraging patients to make changes in their life, keeping in mind the challenges faced by rural communities, for a healthier lifestyle.
Programs such as this, which provide quality primary healthcare to the underserved communities are only possible with the help of our donors. We are grateful for your continued support.
